006--Lizard

The Lizard, of course, in reality, is Doctor Curtis Connors.  In my interpretation, he's the scientist that has been working on the Venom suit with his lab assistant, Eddie Brock.  In secret, however, he also works on his own personal project of limb regeneration.  He creates a serum that he hopes can regrow his own lost arm that uses a sample of the Venom suit itself--the suit has self-regenerative properties and is designed to heal the body.  So yeah, the Lizard serum has its basis in the Venom suit.  A struggling scientist, when the Venom suit is accidentally stolen by Peter and then later transferred to Eddie Brock, Connors loses his funding, and is in danger of losing his lab as well.  He uses the unfinished lizard serum on himself in a last ditch effort for a success, and, well, here's the end result.

Visually, the lizard's design has always been kind of disappointing to me, when I feel the potential is just there and never really utilized.  I have never cared for the human faced scaly guy from the old comics and the movie, and he is otherwise typically designed to look like a dinosaur or dragon or something.  I feel he should look like a lizard, so I really tried to put that in here.  Heavily based on a basilisk in particular.  Another aspect I feel should be emphasized in the lizard design is his regrown arm, I felt it should stand apart.  So I concocted the Venom suit origin angle and worked that into the arm's design, giving it a sickly purplish black color.

But on top of all that, I really wanted him to look gross.  Just... really nasty.  I think I succeeded.
