Green-Mamba

Just spent a couple of hours uploading the contents of my blog that I've been running for the past year or so, personashadows.tumblr.com if you've been wondering what I've been up to.  I know it's not exactly what a lot of you watch this gallery for, so I apologize, but I thought I should start showing my oldest gallery some loving.

I have just uploaded the first specimen of my new project, Fossils of the Science Museum of Minnesota.  It's Quetzalcoatlus.  Go check it out!

I should note that, while I said before that they will be shaded and such, and they will, I will be uploading the flat colored ones here first to facilitate a faster release (and I may have my own plans with the finalized versions).  Think of them as the initial steps.

Hey there, long time no post eh?  I'm here for a couple things.

One, I do recall saying that the new paleoart project would be up and running a long time ago now, and I have to say, sorry I've been slow on it, and I still don't really have anything of it to show you yet, but I am now willing to say what the project is.

The new project is being called Fossils of the Science Museum of Minnesota.  I myself volunteer there regularly, and it struck me as both a fun project for myself and something I could use volunteering.  The museum itself has quite an array of fossil animals on display, a lot more than you would think a place with as little paleontological significance as Minnesota; the final count is still up in the air (I need to determine how I'm doing some of the harder ones yet).  But the animals are all manners of creatures, vertebrates, invertebrates, dinosaurs, mammals, pterosaurs, trilobites, what have you.  I spent a day photographing and cataloging them all, and I still think I'm missing a few.

The pictures themselves will end up being larger and more detailed than the ones I did for project: Dinosauria, featuring actual shading and stuff for one (which is why I have been practicing a lot the past few weeks).  So...  I'm not entirely certain if I'll be able to keep up a rigorous schedule like I did for project: Dinosauria.  But I will try my best to be regular once it starts up.

Also, I should say, I have started up a tumblr, because that seemed like what all the cool kids are doing these days.  Known as Hotel Dilong, you can find it at hoteldilong.tumblr.com.  This is not a replacement for my deviantArt account, this is merely supplementary.  Much of the same art will be found there, alongside extra sketches that I may not want to take the time and archive on dA.  So, you should follow it.

Or not.  But I suggest you do.

I'm thinking this might be the most controversial update that I've done, as it's basically completely different. I was never, ever satisfied with my original Therizinosaurus and arrived at my original conclusion after being pressed for time. Therizinosaurs in general are hard for me to conceptualize as living, breathing creatures, and I think this new take is as close as I can get. The end result is very different from the original, so go here ( green-mamba.deviantart.com/art… ) to see the original and compare. I personally think the new one is much better, but you may not, no skin off my nose.

So!

This will be the *FINAL* update to project: DINOSAURIA.  It's been fun, but I think it's time for me to leave it behind me.

BUT!

I will be beginning a new paleoart project starting next week.  What will it be?  You will have to tune in to find out I'm afraid!

This is one picture that I always felt was just genuinely ugly, so I felt it needed some fine tuning to bring it up to code. Not a full redrawing, but pretty close. That said, I feel you really need the original to compare it to to see the difference, so go here ( green-mamba.deviantart.com/art… ) to see it.

I think I have only one more update to do, so next week's will be the last update to project: Dinosauria, at least, for now.

Starting after that I will be beginning a new paleoart project, so stay tuned!
