After a bit of a hiatus, I've returned to the monster series.
Not quite as obscure as the Catoblepas, the Kappa is like... a japanese water demon. It's been described to me as this shelled, green skinned reptile thing that keeps water in a little bowl-like indentation in its head. I dunno much esle about it.
I like some of my ideas here. The headphones are probably my favorite, and the respirator in his mouth is pretty cool.
I actually drew this as soon as I finished the Catoblepas picture (which was, what, two months ago?), and I just got around to coloring it. I'm so slow.
i like what you did with the head since kappas are bald. another thing is that they are know to kill humans. to avoid death via a kappa you carve your name in a cucumber and throw it where the kappa lives. Since they love cucumbers they'll read your name on it and when they confront you all you do is say your name and they'll let you live.

I would fufill my potential would but then it would cut into my sitting around time.
That's awesome, there's a lot of little details to look at and I like the ideas for everything as well, especially the way it keeps water XD very unique way o.0
I really like the concept idea, although it looks slightly flashy for my tastes. I read that is where the idea of koopas (from the Super Mario games) originated from.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
